New Apple Podcasts on iOS 26: what’s new for podcasters

Source: Apple.com
With iOS 26, Apple continues to improve its Apple Podcasts application, used by millions of listeners worldwide. This update introduces several major changes, impacting both the listener experience and the visibility of content creators.
A search highlighted by a detached magnifying glass
The new iOS 26 interface brings a discreet but major change: the search bar becomes a central tab in its own right, separate from the Play, Library and New tabs.
For podcasters, this is a strong signal: Apple is encouraging users to actively seek out new content. More than ever, your metadata (titles, descriptions, keywords) becomes crucial to being found.
Our tips for optimizing your visibility:
- Identify the most sought-after keywords in your field.
- Integrate them intelligently into your episode titles and descriptions.
- Analyze your competitors’ strategies.
- Keep track of your visibility with Ausha’s PSO Control Panel.
Search results now display thematic categories (News, Sport, Miscellaneous…), offering podcasters additional exposure via editorialized selections.

Improved dialogue: clearer voices, even over noise
iOS 26 introduces Dialogue Enhancement, available on iPhone and iPad. Thanks to machine learning, this option analyzes sound in real time, reduces background noise and normalizes voices, even if music or jingles are present.
For the listener, listening comfort is maximized in noisy environments. For the podcaster, it’s a safety net: even an imperfect mix will be more intelligible.
Our recommendations:
- Continue to focus on quality recording and mixing.
- Inform your listeners of this feature via newsletter or episode introduction.

More flexible reading speeds: from x0.5 to x3
iOS 26 now lets you adjust listening speed to the nearest tenth, from x0.5 to x3. Users can even save these settings per podcast: an audio drama can be listened to at x1, an interview podcast at x1.5, without readjusting each time.

The “Explore” tab becomes “New” to encourage discovery
The “Browse” tab disappears in favor of “New”, emphasizing :
- Recent episodes
- Current trends
- Apple’s editorial selections
For creators, it’s a new way of attracting listeners if your episodes are recent and well-categorized.

New, enriched reports in Apple Podcasts Connect
Apple Podcasts Connect now offers detailed reports by episode, podcast, channel and listening provider, exportable daily, weekly or monthly.
This data is used to track :
- Free vs. paid listening
- Detailed performance of your content
- Listening behavior by audience
Cross-reference with your internal statistics (e.g. Ausha) to refine your editorial and marketing strategy.
In a nutshell
For listeners :
- Improved listening comfort thanks to the dialogue function.
- Total flexibility with listening speeds adjustable in tenths.
- Simplified discovery via search and the “New” tab.
- Customized settings per podcast for a made-to-measure experience.
For podcasters:
- Search becomes a key lever: your metadata is essential.
